The Berrien County Cancer Service, Inc. has had the honor of caring for Southwest Michigan’s cancer patients since 1948. We are a unique skilled oncology nursing service that provides compassionate care for cancer patients and those with related illnesses in the comfort of their own home. We are able to do this at no cost because of the generosity of our community and we are “neighbors helping neighbors” in a time when they need our special care.
In addition to our nursing care services, we have an extensive loan closet of medical equipment and supplies that we offer at no cost; including nutritional supplements and wound management supplies as well as incontinence products. We have wigs and turbans and offer breast cancer patients special products as well. We currently offer support groups for education and emotional support as well as an art program for children and families impacted by cancer.
Our services are available to all of those living in Berrien County who have a cancer diagnosis by a licensed physician.
How We are Funded
Our agency is a funded partner of United Way of Southwest Michigan. Other important sources of income come from private contributions in the form of memorials, direct contributions from individuals and a large variety of other community stakeholders or estates. Every dollar given to us stays in our community for our community.
Fundraisers may be sponsored by individuals or groups who desire to support our mission of care for our beloved cancer patients or those with serious illnesses. We also have two signature fundraisers: Pennies For Patients™ and the BCCS Annual Art Festival. Detailed information regarding these fundraisers may be found on our website.
All of our funds come from local sources and do not receive any funds from national organizations or their fundraising campaigns. We are very grateful for all the funding that is provided to us by our generous community.
