Berrien County Cancer Service

Legacy Gifts

A Legacy Gift is a planned gift that may enable you to make a much more significant impact than you may have thought possible. It can create an opportunity to support the Berrien County Cancer Service overall or through a service or program in a very meaningful way.

Legacy gifts can create potential savings on capital gains taxes or estate taxes. For instance, these types of gifts can reduce your estate tax liability. Legacy gifts include and are not limited to:

  • Bequests in a will or trust
  • Beneficiary designations in a retirement fund [e.g., IRA, 401(k), 403(b)]
  • Beneficiary designation in a life insurance policy
  • Outright gift of life insurance cash value [e.g., policy that’s no longer needed]

Your financial advisor or attorney can assist you in choosing the right options.
