Ways to Give

Supporting Our Community: Five Ways to Donate

The Berrien County Cancer Service is a non-profit organization supported by the United Way of Southwest Michigan, private and corporate donations, and events like Pennies for Patients™. We don’t receive payments from Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance, so we rely on your help to offer free services to those facing cancer and serious illnesses in Southwest Michigan. Every donation stays local to support our community.

5 Great Ways to Give to the Berrien County Cancer Service

The Berrien County Cancer Service is a non-profit organization supported by the United Way of Southwest Michigan, private and corporate donations, and events like Pennies for Patients™. We don’t receive payments from Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance, so we rely on your help to offer free services to those facing cancer and serious illnesses in Southwest Michigan. Every donation stays local to support our community.

1. Donate Today!

Donations to our General Fund help cover current needs, while contributions to our Endowment Fund ensure we can continue serving in the future. All donations are tax-deductible, and we’ll provide a receipt for your records.

You can also donate in honor or memory of a loved one. If you’d like us to notify the honoree or their family, please include their information when making your gift.

2. Legacy Gifts

A Legacy Gift is a special way to make a lasting impact by supporting the Berrien County Cancer Service in a significant way, either overall or through a specific program. It may also offer financial benefits, such as reducing estate or capital gains taxes.

Legacy Gifts can include:

  • Naming us in your will or trust
  • Choosing us as a beneficiary in your retirement fund (IRA, 401(k), 403(b))
  • Naming us as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy
  • Donating the cash value of a life insurance policy you no longer need

Your financial advisor or attorney can help you decide which option is best. To learn more, contact Nancy Church at (269) 429-3281 or email nchurch@bccancerservice.org.

3. Raising Money

Want to host a fundraiser for Berrien County Cancer Service (BCCS)? Whether it’s a walk, car wash, or bake sale, your event can make a big difference! We’re here to help with planning, marketing, and guidance.

If your fundraiser raises $500+, we can provide a photo op with a big check for social media!

For questions or to get started, contact Tyanna Essig at tyanna@bccancerservice.org or call 269-429-3281.

Donations can be mailed to:

Berrien County Cancer Service
3900 Hollywood Rd
St. Joseph, MI 49085

Thanks for supporting our mission!

4. Change for Cancer – Round Up

The Berrien County Cancer Service team is working harder than ever to support our patients! Many of them are among the most vulnerable in our community, and every donation helps us continue providing care.

You can visit us at various in-person locations to donate spare change or cash. Watch our EVENTS page and follow us on social media for dates/locations. Prefer donating online or by mail? That works too—just mention that your donation is for Change for Cancer. For more information, call 269-429-3281.

Raise $500 or more, and we’ll visit your location for a Big Check Presentation! Email tyanna@bccancerservice.org for details.
